PRX VALORANT star has the green light for VCT Pacific grand final—but a Champions hurdle could bench him

Tokyo and Paris, we want him everywhere!

Despite holding a valid Japan visa for Tokyo, Paper Rex’s crucial support player PatMen may miss the upcoming VCT Pacific Stage two’s grand final due to a visa limbo tied to VALORANT Champions 2025 in Paris, France.

In the Aug. 17 post-match press conference, coach Alecks revealed that PatMen is still waiting on his Schengen visa, a requirement for VALORANT Champions 2025 in Paris. If the approval doesn’t come through before Tokyo, PatMen will be stuck in Seoul as leaving the country would void the process. Alecks ended with a pointed plea to the French Embassy for help.

PRX put together a stellar run in VCT Pacific stage two, finishing the group stage with four wins to just one loss and cruising through the upper bracket undefeated in the playoffs. While not the team’s primary damage dealer, PatMen proved indispensable with his precise utility usage and timely clutches.

When it comes to having him in Tokyo or Paris, both appearances feel non-negotiable for PRX. But if a choice has to be made, logic dictates keeping him available for VALORANT Champions in Paris.

With their Masters Toronto victory and consistent form this season, PRX has already secured a spot at VALORANT Champions. While another trophy in VCT Pacific stage two would certainly be a prestigious addition, it pales in importance compared to the world title in the year-end tournament.

If PatMen is unable to travel to Tokyo, PRX will need to designate a replacement for the Pacific Stage two grand final. The roster does not currently feature an official stand-in, but based on precedent, many fans expect cgrs to step back into the lineup. In fact, hell already be participating in the Showmatch right before the final series.

In 2023, cgrs filled in for something at Masters Tokyo when visa issues kept the talented duelist and initiator main out. Despite limited preparation, the versatile player impressed with sharp Gekko plays, strong utility support, and clutch performances. Since then, he has transitioned to a content creation role with PRX and remains a member of the popular esports organization to date.

If all else fails, cgrs is PRX’s best contingency plan, but the team and fans alike will be hoping PatMen’s Schengen visa clears in time. With the VCT Pacific Stage two grand final set on Aug. 31, there’s still time left on the clock.
